PROJECT INTRODUCTION
Robinson
R22 carrier basically is to manoeuver the two bladed rotor wing aircraft on
ground. It is because the aircraft was only design with skid and rear auxiliary
wheels by the manufacturer. However, the aircraft needs large human effort by
lift the aircraft and drag it. The lifting can be done by pressing the tail rod
downward at the emphanage section of the helicopter. Therefore, the Robinson
R22 Carrier is to be design to decrease the human effort while moving the the
aircraft from one point to another without the power of engine. It would be an
effective way of innovation for the aircraft ground handling task. This carrier
also will not harm any part of the aircraft when installed to the helicopter.
Besides,
our project is far more better than current carrier which is in service now.
There are several points to be compare such as the size, weight, cost, space
occupied, way of handling, installation, and quantity of material used.
PROJECT OBJECTIVE
The Robinson R22 Carrier is
create by our team to take care and prolong the life span of the institute’s property which the R22 light
helicopter. Moreover, our project also can assist the institute management to
get DCA approval by fullfill the DCA requirement in term of ground handling
equipment. This carrier also will allow a better towing process with full of
safety to the aircraft and person who handling the task. The Robinson R22 can
be frequently use for tutorial purpose since there is carrier to mobile the
helicopter anytime and anywhere. However, the Robinson R22 can be fully utilize
by the aviation students and can prevent the helicopter from just being exhibit
in the hangar.
1. Perform
initial design of “Robinson R22 Helicopter Carrier” before proceed to computer
aided drawing design software.
2. Identified
suitable material specification for the project.
3. Performed
inspection on material which will be used for the product.
4. Start
the fabrication activity which related to cutting process according to
specification stated in the drawing.
5. Start
the arrangement of the component and tack weld all the parts as to change the
product into main chassis.
6. Do
cleaning process in all joining before
non destructive testing perform by using Dye Penetrant Test.
7. Installation
of wheel and tyre in each of the lower arm.
8. Painting
the product in order to give awerenes as the ground handling equipment must be
in light colour.
9. Product
inspect and testing before used in R22 helicopter.
PROBLEM EXPLAINATION
PROBLEM EXPLAINATION
Problem
identification refer to the aircraft ground handling operation whereby the
aircraft maintenance technology students have no proper training aid during conducting the ground handling operation. Research found that the Robinson R22 helicopter needs large human effort by lift the aircraft and drag it. This is because the aircraft was only design with the rear auxiliary wheels by the manufacturer.

Therefore, an
